Mr. Steager is a Managing Director, Strategic Innovation Portfolio and Director of Corporate Development & Innovation for Independence Blue Cross, focused on the identification, analysis and execution of strategic equity investments, as well as mergers and acquisitions. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Finance and Entrepreneurship at Drexel University.
Prior to joining IBC, he spent several years at both a private investment firm focused on venture capital and private equity investments, and Safeguard Scientifics, a publicly traded venture capital firm. Prior to Safeguard, Mr. Steager’s career included founding a private investment fund focused on acquiring middle market manufacturing companies in the Midwestern United States, and healthcare investment banking at Houlihan Lokey and Ernst & Young.
Mr. Steager holds an MBA with honors from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business and a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University.
